The Australian becomes a Finalist
So I'm getting somewhere!
I've been more indoors than out getting leaves stuck in my hair these days but i'm still working on my Australian native Silk flower project for summer.
This last month I entered the inaugural Melbourne International Millinery Competition with my hand made gum blossom headpiece and made it through to the final - Thank You Catherine Ellen from The Essential Hat and judges!
It has taken a few goes but I've found a shape and style that reflects what I'm seeing when I think of our gorgeous little gum blossoms. They aren't made in a traditional flower making techniques sort of way but I think our distinct flora deserves a making style all their own.
I'm really happy with how they turned out and I suspect I'll enjoy changing my approach the next time I begin making another blossom... and the next time after that.
